Checklist Head of Department/Equivalent Days 15-30

  • Keep in regular contact with your employee.
  • Determine whether a rehab plan should be established, use the guide "Rehabutredning" in Adato.
  • When necessary, create a rehab plan together with your employee, use the guide "Plan för återgång i arbete(rehabplan)" in Adato.
  • Review and make decisions regarding possible adaptations.
  • Where necessary, contact occupational health services.
  • Document the contact, assessments and decisions.

The Salaries Service Unit will inform Försäkringskassan about any continued sick leave by day 15. From day 15, the employer is no longer responsible for the payment of sick pay, instead the employee applies to sickness benefit from Försäkringskassan. Uppsala University will pay a supplement if the employee is awarded sickness benefit.

As the head of department/equivalent, you will continue to be in contact with the employee who is on sick leave. If you believe that the employee will be on full or part-time sick leave for over 60 days, initiate discussions about a rehab plan. Here you can discuss suitable adaptations and what actions might be necessary for the employee to be able to return to work. The rehab plan must be created no later than day 30 following the first sick day. Exceptions may apply if it is clear that an employee’s health prevents them from returning to work. Should this be the case, no rehab plan is necessary at this stage. However, you need to be able to justify why a rehab plan has not been established. There is no procedural requirement for a rehab plan, however you are encouraged to use the guide "Plan för återgång i arbete(rehabplan)" in Adato .

If the assessment shows that the employee will be able to return to work within 60 days, as head of department/equivalent you can follow-up on this by creating an action plan – you need not create a rehab plan.

For work-related ill health, as a head of department/manager, at this early stage you can begin discussions with occupational health about any relevant efforts they may provide. Occupational health services can assist with contacting a doctor (sick leave), counselling with a behavioural science specialist/psychologist, physiotherapy appointments and rehab coordination.
