Personal injury insurance for non-employees

Uppsala University provides, through an agreement with Kammarkollegiet, a personal injury insurance for non-employees who take part in university activities, for example professor emeritus/emerita. This insurance provides protection that corresponds in some parts to the protection that employees have in the event of occupational injuries.

  • Please note that this insurance only applies to people with a Swedish personal number.

Read more about the insurance terms at Kammarkollegiet's website. (In Swedish)

To report an injury, please fill in the correct form on Kammarkollegiet's website.

Insurance certificates, a certificate proving that a you are covered by the insurance, is found under the section forms. Your host department fill in the form if necessary. You don't need a certificate to report an injury at Kammarkollegiet's website. The insurance certificate is not a requirement to be covered by the insurance.

Swedish State Insurance for foreign visitors

The University has signed an insurance for foreign visitors which automatically covers all international employees, scholarship holders, doctoral students and accompanying family members. The insurance also covers accompanying family members. The insurance covers emergency medical and dental care protection, but also covers accident protection, home transport protection, liability protection, legal protection and a certain property protection.

The insurance does not cover students at the undergraduate or master's degree program registered in Uppdok.

The insurance is valid around the clock within the Schengen area with the exception of property protection, which only applies in Sweden. This applies if the insured has a Schengen visa. If the insured does not have a Schengen visa or if the insured has a residence permit in Sweden, the insurance only applies in Sweden.

Insurance certificates, a certificate proving that you are covered by the Insurance for foreign visitors, is found under the section forms. Host departments fill in the form.

To report a claim and see complete insurance terms, see Kammarkollegiet's website

Limitations

With the exception of accident cover, this insurance only compensates damage or costs to the extent such cannot be compensated by other insurance.

Property Protection

Damage or loss of your private property is replaced by no more than 20 000 Sek and the deductible in this case is 1500 Sek. There may be the possibility of signing a private insurance in a Swedish insurance company if you want to insure a greater amount of money.

Health and parental insurance for doctoral students with stipends

Uppsala University provides, through an agreement with Kammarkollegiet, insurance cover for Doctoral students whose studies are funded through stipends.

The insurance shall apply when your stipend is reduced due to your absence from studies in the case of illness or parental leave. The insurance consists of three parts:

- Sickness benefit
- Parental benefit
- Temporary parental benefit

Please note that you shall report the illness, parental benefit or withdrawal of temporary parental benefit to Kammarkollegiet at forsakring@kammarkollegiet.se no later than the day after the first day of sick leave, of parental benefit or withdrawal of temporary parental benefit.
